Dear Parents
It has been a very chilly start to the week and the forecasters suggest we may have snow. In the case of school closures, please listen to Heart Radio 102.2FM or look at the BBC Wiltshire website or our own website. I will try to make a decision on closure as early as I can, but even so it can take time for the decision to reach the media. Please be patient.
Mrs Rockey
Well, I recently wrote to inform you that Mrs Channon was expecting a baby, I am now writing to say that Mrs Rockey is too! In fact Mrs Rockey is expecting twins in June. The Governors are advertising for a replacement teacher and we anticipate appointing in March, so that there is plenty of time for the class to work with the teacher while Mrs Rockey is still with us. What exciting times!
Reading Diaries & Folders
Please ensure your child’s reading diary and folders are in school every day. Reading is a key skill for all children and needs regular practise to develop. Please help us to help your children.
Homework
If you and your child find some homework set too stressful or you just don’t manage to get it done, don’t worry. If you can tell the teacher, that would be helpful but you can also put a note in the homework book. Please make sure homework books are in your child’s reading folder on a Monday. Thank you.
New Mobiles
I know many people had new mobile phones for Christmas, if you did, please complete the slip at the end of this letter. Please also complete if you have a new address or emergency contacts. Thank you.
Trousers
Has anyone any outgrown school trousers that they could donate to us? I think the cold weather is having an adverse effect on some of our younger children and we are running out of trousers! Please help if you can.
Class Assemblies
May I remind you that it is the Penguins assembly this Thursday 2nd @ 2.30pm.
Half term
The school will be closed for the week beginning 13th February for half term. It will re-open on Monday 20th February.
National Libraries Day @ Westbury Library
The Westbury White Horse Children’s Centre will be holding their Dad’s Saturday activity at Westbury Library. 10-12, Saturday 4th February. Free drop in activity for Parents/Carers with their children 0-11 years. The theme is Pirates and Princesses and the library will be providing lots of books packed full of great ideas and stories. To celebrate National Libraries Day, adults might like to update their membership, hire a DVD, get on-line, find out about e-books, take out an energy monitor, relax with a magazine, browse and be amazed. Love your Library and borrow 12 items!
