Dear Parents
I hope you all enjoyed the Easter break. Miss Succony is now teaching Class 4, ‘The Bees’ and Mrs Huxham is working with Mrs Rockey and Class 3, ‘The Otters’. I hope you will make them feel very welcome at Westbury Infants. Mrs Channon has not yet had her baby, but it is due any day now.
Art Projects
We are going to be very busy this term with 2 art projects. The Town Council has given us some money to design and screen print wall hangings for the Jubilee – all the children will be taking part. We’ll invite you in when they are completed.
The second project is for each child to produce an individual art work which will be framed and exhibited in a Whole School Art Exhibition to be held on 14th and 15th June.
Chicks
Mrs Robertson has 9 eggs in an incubator. We are hoping that within the month, we will have 8 chicks and 1 duckling. All of the children will have the opportunity to be involved.
Clubs
Huff and Puff fitness club will continue each lunchtime. There will also be an opportunity for the children to work on our gardens at lunchtimes in small groups. There will also be a Gymnastics Club, on Tuesdays starting 12th June and a Team Games Club starting on Wednesday 13th June, which will be for Year 1 and 2 children. Places will be limited to 20 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Children will need full PE kit. Clubs run from 3.10 until 4.00pm.
Talent Show
Next Friday 27th April, will be the WISH Talent Show. Please encourage your child to perform. It is usually a very enjoyable and entertaining evening.
PE Kit
Yesterday, 9 children in one class had no PE Kit in school. Please check you have returned your child’s PE kit to school after the Easter break. Please also check that their daps still fit! Thank you.
School Dinner Reminder
Please remember that the cost of school dinners is £1.80 per day and that school dinner money should be paid on a Monday for the whole week. Money should be sent in a named and sealed envelope and handed in to your child’s class teacher.
Literacy Festival
All of the schools in the Matraver’s catchment area are to take part in a writing project. Anthony Lishak, a children’s author will be visiting all the schools to work with the children on the theme of ‘Heroes’. All the schools will send representatives to Matravers on 5th July to celebrate their work. There will also be a Parent’s Workshop on 12th June with Anthony. This should be a very exciting project.
