Newsletter No.4 - 21st November 2013

Dear Parents, This week November 18th – 22nd is National Anti-Bullying Week. We have begun working with the children about what ‘bullying’ means; we will be continuing this work next week. On Monday I will be leading an Assembly on what bullying is. This is quite a difficult concept for children of this age. When someone doesn’t want to play with them it is not bullying, but just part of the normal pattern of life. Falling in and out of friendships is very much part of life. Bullying is persistent emotional or physical intimidation. We want all our children to be happy and secure at school. We will be reinforcing with them who they can talk to in school if they are worried or concerned either by something that has happened at school or at home. We are sending home a pamphlet about internet bullying which we hope you will read. We would also ask you if you do have concerns about your child that you put your concerns in writing so that we are sure we have a complete picture of life in school. This would be very useful to us; of course you can still talk to us! We are hoping that this week will ensure all of our children are able to recognise what is acceptable and unacceptable and know what to do if they are worried. Our aim is to help all of our children develop into strong, well balanced children who have the inner strength to deal with all that life brings their way. Please do not hesitate to come and see me or your child’s teacher if you have any concerns about your child’s welfare. Kind Regards, Jan Ball Headteacher
