Newsletter No. 20 - 27th June 2014
NEWS It has been another very busy week at Westbury Infant School. The Year 1 children and staff had a wonderful day at Avon Valley Country Park and thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic facilities.
HEAD LICE A number of parents have reported finding head lice repeatedly in their child hair despite being regularly treated. We must ask that all parents check their child’s hair regularly and use a ‘nit’ comb after each hair wash. The NITTY GRITTY comb costs about £10 and is given excellent reviews in the press. I use one on my own children’s hair and find it very effective at removing eggs and head lice.
LOOM BRACELETS(ELASTIC BANDS) We have been having a number of problems in school with these bracelets and ask that they do not come into school in future. Thank you for supporting this by ensuring that your child keeps them at home.
CLASSES FOR SEPTEMBER We are currently in the process of finalising staffing for September and making decisions about classes for September. You will be informed of your child’s new class and teaching team for September on Monday 14th July. Children will be visiting their new classroom and teacher before the end of term.
REPORTS End of year reports will be going home with your child on Tuesday 1st July. If you are not collecting your child on this day, the report will be handed to the adult who collects your child, unless you inform us otherwise.
SCHOOL MEALS The new school meal menu for September will be available on the website from the 1st September, in school and on the other side of this newsletter! We will assume your child is having a free school meal everyday unless you tell us otherwise. You/your child will be asked as they arrive in the morning if they are having option 1 or option 2 for their main course. Children will make their own choices for starter and pudding at lunchtime in the hall. If your child is having a packed lunch, we will be asking, from September, that you adhere to the guidelines, Crisps, chocolate and sweets should be kept for treats at home, not given in packed lunches please.
