Newsletter No.1 - 11th September 2014

Welcome everyone to a new school year at Westbury Infant School and a very special welcome to all our new families. The year has started exceptionally well with all the children settled in their new classes and happily facing new challenges. New school lunches have been very popular with the children and the atmosphere in the hall is very calm, with staff sitting at the tables with the children, making conversation and modelling good manners. Using tablecloths, china and glassware is giving the children a sense of responsibility and they are very independent pouring their own water and passing round the cutlery and bread baskets. The reception children have made a wonderful start to school and are a pleasure to see, busily learning in their lovely refurbished classrooms. The holidays saw a lot of work inside the school. The YR and Y1 classrooms were all decorated, the entrance hall refurbished and a lot of old furniture replaced. New flooring was laid in Reception classrooms and the whole exterior of the school was pressure washed and windows cleaned. Y2 classrooms will also be decorated during October half term. I believe very strongly in the importance of a calm, orderly, learning environment in assisting children to achieve their very best and will continue to ensure that Westbury Infant School strives to provide the very best standards of education for your child. PARKING - A reminder that cars are not allowed on site between 8:30 – 9:30am and 2:30 – 3:45pm (Only Staff Cars and Resource Base Parents allowed during this time).
