Newsletter No.7 - 22nd October 2014

We have reached the end of term 1 and the time has flown by. The Reception children have settled into school so well, the staff are incredibly proud of them and all they have acheived. Our Y1 and Y2 children continue to make great progress in their learning and have enjoyed trips to the farm and SS Great Britain as part of their topic work. Our school is full of wonderful children who make me smile everyday. I hope you all have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back to school on Tuesday 4th November. Goodbye We are saying good bye to two members of staff today, who will be very much missed at Westbury Infant School. Mrs Metcalf has worked as a teaching assistant for nearly 7 years. She is leaving to take up a post with Wiltshire Council and we wish her all the best for the future. Miss Whitton will take over as teaching assistant for Tigers Class after the break. Mrs Nossiter has worked as a Lunchtime Assistant for nearly 7 years. She is leaving to devote more time to her candle making business. We all wish her good luck in this venture. Lunchtime – a thank you As you may know Universal Free School Meals were introduced this year for all YR, 1 & 2 children. This has presented us with some challenges, not least in the sheer numbers of children that we have to get through the Hall during lunchtime. We are always trying out ways to make this work best for everyone and I want to say thank you to Mrs Rush and Mr Down in the kitchen and our team of MDSAs for all their incredible hard work so far this year. Most of their work is unseen by parents but they are a vital part of the school at lunchtimes (especially wet ones!) and they deserve a pat on the back – thank you. Questionnaires Thank you to all parents who took the time to fill out questionnaires. It will really help me to see what you think we are doing well, and what we can get even better at. I will be collating the answers over the holiday and will report back to you shortly. Kind Regards Stacey Budge
